Faith as a Child has an entirely new meaning for me at this point. The bible (Mark 10:15 and Luke 18:17) clearly says that we must receive the Kingdom of God as a little child in order to enter heaven. Jesus was teaching when little children were brought to see him. At first his disciples scolded the parents for even bringing the little kids, Jesus seemed a little frustrated. This is when he tells the disciples to allow the children to come to him. He explains that heaven is filled with children and people that have accepted him with the faith of a child. My question for you today is How do you accept Jesus like a child?
Watching my little girl accepting Jesus has been the biggest answer for me. As she accepted Jesus in to her life with a pure and trusting heart, she began to automatically look for changes in herself. Have we changed since accepting Jesus?
First, She proclaimed with a pure and innocent view that she was going to tell the whole world about Jesus. She wanted to buy bibles for her entire class and she wanted to have a bon fire party to invite people that didn't know about Jesus to our house. Do we look for ways to tell the world about Jesus?
Her hunger to learn more about God sent her straight to the word of God. She began reading the bible even though she can barely make out some of the words. I know this because she is struggling in reading. In fact, watching her read, I wondered if she understood what she was reading about at all. However, it didn't matter. She was reading and she knew in her heart that was the important part. She had faith that she would learn. So, many times, I hear the excuse that the bible is hard to understand. If we have the faith of a child, it won't matter that we don't always understand it. We will read it anyway. Are you hungering to learn more about God?
The desire to be like Jesus is strong within a new christian. It is like a new love. As a new christian, you have fallen in love with Jesus. You want to do the things that make him happy, you want to give him something to show your love, and most of all you want to be worthy of his love. Children love enthusiastically. They show their love through hugs, handmade pictures, words, and the little twinkle in their eyes. They want to be just like who ever it is that the love rather that be a parent, grandparent, or cartoon character. Do we strive to be like Jesus and to show him our love?
Mark 10:15 (New King James Version)
15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
Luke 18:17 (New King James Version)
17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
